All Games Postponed Until Jan 26th
3 January 2022 @ 12:56 PM by Ryan McCann

Hi everyone,

Following today's provincial announcement, all leagues will be postponed until January 26th at the earliest. The impending lockdown will also cause delays to the start dates of the Winter 2022 league program. Over the next few days, the admin team will be updating league schedules to reflect the new restrictions and plan for the restart. We will operate under the premise that sports will return by the end of the month and will keep you updated if restrictions are changed or extended.

  • The current Fall and Winter leagues that were in progress as of today will be postponed until January 26th.
  • The Winter 2022 that were scheduled to start in January & February will be delayed anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks from the date of reopening. Start dates will be adjusted over the course of the week on our homepage, but please note that these are tentitive and subject to further change.

As it stands, the current reopening dates for venues are as follows. Leagues will resume as soon as it is permitted to do so.

Update on COVID and Leagues
3 January 2022 @ 6:21 AM by Joel Convery

Happy New Year everyone,

We just wanted to update you all on what is happening at the various venues as we come out of the break and into our first games of 2022.

We are obviously seeing unprecedented numbers of COVID cases, and we were waiting for the latest update from the Province to confirm if there would be a shutdown. The Province has not closed the schools or any businesses or added any new restrictions on recreational sports.

Since April 2020 through the various peaks and troughs of the pandemic and the four previous shutdowns, we have had exactly the same position when it comes to playing or not playing. We rely on the guidelines from the Province of Ontario and from OPH and follow them to the letter. If they close down recreational sports the leagues are paused until we are allowed to play again. If there are restrictions, we follow them and enforce them. If we are allowed to play, we play. We will continue to do that for 2022. As of right now, neither the Province nor OPH has issued directives to close recreational sports. The leagues, as of now, have not been canceled.

Indoor venues are remaining open, adhering to whichever provincial guidelines apply and holding us to our contracts: therefore games will continue.

Of course, all of this could change if there is another update from the Province or OPH, and we will keep everyone in each league informed within a few hours of any announcement that has a significant impact.

Whatever we decide, we know that some of you won't agree with our decision. We respect that and appreciate your understanding that there isn't any single solution that gives everyone what they want. We've heard every viewpoint over the past few weeks from "Schools, stores and sports should all have been completely shut-down weeks ago" to "I shouldn't be told if and when I can play or not and shouldn't have to provide vaccination information". And all opinions in between.

QR Code Now Required for Proof of Vaccination

Don't forget that the standards for proof of vaccination will change on Tuesday, January 4th. "Beginning January 4, 2022, Ontarians will be required to use their enhanced vaccine certificate with the official QR code. Vaccine receipts without a QR code will no longer be accepted as valid proof of vaccination." This applies to people who are vaccinated and to those with an exemption certificate. DOMES WILL NOT ALLOW ENTRY TO ANYONE UNABLE TO PROVIDE THE QR CODE.

You can find details of how to download your certificate with QR code here

Take care and have a Happy New Year,

The Footy Sevens Team

Spring League Update & Return to Play
25 May 2021 @ 8:56 AM by Ryan McCann

Hi Footyseveners,

We hope everyone is doing well and enjoyed the great weather over this long weekend. We all wish we were back on the field playing the game we love and are hopeful that it won't be long until we're back underway. As the situation here in Brampton (and Ontario) improves, we wanted to reach out and give you a quick update regarding our Spring/Summer leagues.

We were hoping for an immediate return of safe outdoor sports but unfortunately, it looks like we will have to wait until Phase 2 of the reopening in early July. If there are any changes to the provincial timeline for sports, we are ready to get going right away and will update everyone as more information becomes available.

We've put together a short FAQ that covers some of the more general questions we've received.

When will the leagues begin? The provincial announcement allows for league games to resume in Phase 2 of the reopening plan, currently slated for late June or early July. The dates posted are based on the information we have received to date. They are subject to change and if we're able to start earlier, we are ready to get going as soon as we are permitted to do so.

Can I still register? Yes! We still have spaces remaining in all of our Spring/Summer leagues. Team and Individual registration is open. Click here for all league information. We are about 70% sold out across the board and anticipate remaining spaces could sell out quickly now that we have a clear timeline.

Will my team play the full season? Yes, all Spring/Summer leagues will be played in their entirety.

Where will leagues be played? All Spring/Summer leagues will be played outdoors and games will be scheduled at Heart Lake.

THANK YOU! Needless to say, but we'd also just like to say a big thank you to all our members for your continued support throughout the pandemic. We couldn't do this without you and we're looking forward to getting back on the field.

If you have any questions about any of this or a specific league, drop us an email and we'll answer your questions to the best of our ability.

League Start Dates
14 May 2021 @ 9:19 AM by Ryan McCann

Hello everyone,

We just want to provide a quick update regarding the league start dates. As the government has announced an extension to the lockdown until at least June 2nd, all of the start dates have been provisionally moved to the first week of June. You can view the provisional dates on the home page of the website.

As the government releases more information regarding the opening of outdoor sports we will be sure to send out an update. We appreciate your continued patience, and want to remind you that we plan to get all leagues kicked off as soon as the government gives the green light. All leagues will be played in their entirety and we'll do our best to provide more detailed information when the government gives an update regarding outdoor sports. At this time they have not provided any specific information regarding a return to play, but we'll do our best to give everyone as much notice possible.

Thank you to everyone for their continued support, and we hope to see you all again soon.

Provincial Announcement - Update for Footy Sevens Leagues
10 October 2020 @ 10:46 AM by Ryan McCann

Hi everyone,

As some of you already know, the Province has announced that Peel will be returning to phase 2 of opening and team sports and scrimmages will be banned for at least 28 days as of this morning.

Not surprisingly, we are getting bombarded with questions, calls and e-mails at the moment, before we have even had much of a chance to absorb this news or talk amongst ourselves.

We just wanted to give everyone a quick update on what this means for the current leagues.

Unless was have greatly misinterpreted the announcement, you can assume that there will be no games in the current leagues until at least November 7th.

We will send a full update on the leagues (whether we think they will be finished, postponed or cancelled, playoffs, refunds, credits and all that good stuff) when everyone is back after Thanksgiving weekend. Please do not ask us for specific updates just now, as we don't have any further information at the moment.

Hopefully, this gives you the information that you need just now, and we will be able to answer more of your questions after the weekend,

Have a great Thanksgiving everyone,

- Ryan and the Footy Sevens Team
